Established in 2015, the Rocky River Band Backers was formed as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization to support the Rocky River City School District's band program.

In June 2023, the original "Band Backers" organization voted to merge with "Choir Boosters" to form the Rocky River Music Backers. We are thrilled to be an organization that supports all vocal and instrumental performing groups grades 5-12 in the Rocky River schools. Our two arms, the RR Band Backers and RR Choir Backers, work in harmony to offer many forms of support, including: raising funds to purchase and maintain uniforms, music, equipment, supplies, awards, snacks, workshops with clinicians, etc. We also work with the RRCSD music staff to assist in organizing parent volunteers and publicizing music program activities.

All parents and guardians of vocal and instrumental performing group students in grades 5-12 are automatically part of Rocky River Music Backers. We have no membership fees. We are honored to be supported by Rocky River families and local businesses through donations that allow us to fulfill our mission of supplementing the Rocky River instrumental and vocal performance groups at KIS, RRMS, and RRHS. All donations directly impact students in a variety of ways.

The purpose of the Rocky River Music Backers is:

• to raise funds to support the instrumental music program of the Rocky River City School District at all levels (currently 5th through 12th grade), including the Pom Squad and Flag Corp of the Rocky River High School Marching Band

• to promote and support the welfare and development of the instrumental music program of the Rocky River City Schools, and 

• to publicize the activities of the instrumental music program

What do the Rocky River Music Backers do??

• Organized parent volunteers for all aspects of the RR Music Program

• Fits all musicians (vocal and instrumental) for uniforms each fall

• Provided new PA system for HS band

• Sponsored Kensington Beginning Band Night

• Provided drinks for 3rd quarter snacks for Marching Band

• Provided dinner for Marching Band after the Front-Yard Pep Rally

• Purchased new sheet music for the music program

• Paid for contest fees and enrichment materials for RR music students grades 5-12

• Purchased music binders for the Wind Ensemble and Concert Band

• Sponsored student recognition awards

• Paid for middle school Jazz band uniform cleaning and repair

• Paid for new percussion equipment at MS (Bongos, sticks, mallets, vibraphone frame)

• Provided Mitchell's ice cream as awards for 6th graders

• Sponsored guest clinicians to work with the bands at MS & HS (e.g. Ben Taylor)
